Greetings Hurling Fans!
We had a great weekend of hurling at Chicago Gaelic Park for the 2017 NCGAA National Hurling Championship. In attendance were the University of Montana, the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Connecticut, Purdue University, and the University of Colorado-Boulder.
The games were spread over two days with the first day’s games, on Saturday the 27th, being played in a blitz style format. Each team played four games of 10-minute halves each. The results were then used to seed each team for games on Sunday. Day 1 scores were as follows:
UConn 1-7 Purdue 1-2
Montana 2-9 Pitt 0
UConn 3-4 Colorado 2-1
Purdue 1-3 Pitt 0-1
Montana 3-7 Colorado 1-1
UConn 4-4 Pitt 0-1
Montana 1-5 Purdue 0-2
Pitt 1-1 Colorado 0-3
Montana 2-5 UConn 0-2
Purdue 1-3 Colorado 0-1
The teams were thus seeded as follows:
To round off the day, the 4th and 5th seeded teams competed in a play-in match with Pitt winning 4-1 over Colorado’s 0-6.
The results of the second day’s 4-team single-elimination tournament will be posted shortly.
